WATER SAFETY IN ALBERTA
Who ensures Alberta’s drinking water is safe? Alberta Environment regulates water treatment using the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act as its guide. Alberta Environment works with Alberta Health and Wellness and regional health authorities to ensure drinking water quality. Alberta’s treatment performance standards are the most stringent in Canada.
Alberta law requires water from treatment facilities meet the standards indicated in Health Canada’s Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality.
