Clubroot.ca your one-stop shop for clubroot infoMay 23, 2008: Looking for information on clubroot in canola? Look no further. Go to clubroot.ca for the latest scoop on the disease, and for links to provincial and other industry information. “Because this disease is pretty new to canola in western Canada, and it has become a hot topic in the canola industry, we needed a one-stop shop for information,” says Derwyn Hammond, Canola Council agronomy specialist for Manitoba. The Canola Council, in collaboration with many others in the canola industry, has just launched the new website at www.clubroot.ca. The website features four key sections: About Clubroot provides general information about the disease, which affects crops in the cabbage family, including canola. Identify Clubroot features pictures and scouting tips and lists the steps to confirm plant or soil samples are infected. It also lists the areas where clubroot has been found. Prevent Clubroot details the practices that help limit the spread of clubroot from infected fields and includes suggestions for equipment sanitation and field entry protocols for growers, agronomists, and the oil and gas industry. Manage Clubroot provides information on production practices that will help producers manage fields affected by the disease. Clubroot.ca will continue to provide the most up-to-date research findings and regulation changes that may affect growers and the industry, says Hammond. He recommends that agronomists and growers pay a visit and submit their own questions through the Clubroot Questions? feature.
